Project Summary
The project was part of a large infrastructure upgrade project, including the Teesside Gas Conversion Project which was split into two phases known as IBL (Inside Battery Limit) and OBL (Outside Battery Limit).
We undertook the IBL scope of work, which related to the conversion of the existing SABIC naphtha cracker facility at Wilton to a gas cracker facility.
The contract comprised a freestanding four-storey structure complete with ladders, stairs, and intermediate platforms between main floor levels, with full-height access stairs and escape ladders.
Once fabricated in our workshop, our project team coordinated the offsite intumescent coating using a Chartek system to provide 120 minutes fire protection to the columns and floor beams up to the first floor level.
In addition to the structural steelwork we supplied and installed approximately 650 square metres of 25mm thick open grid flooring, 400 linear metres of pre-galvanised handrail, 140 open grid stair treads, 38 linear metres of cat ladders, and 5 full height self-closing safety gates.
