Project Summary
As part of a £16 million development programme to reconfigure London City Airport’s Western Pier, we supplied and installed the structural steel, metal decking, and cladding to form the new 300 metre-long extension to the existing Pier.
Comprising of a single storey structure with vierendeel glazing support steelwork to the length of the extension, the extension support increased the Pier footprint by over 80%, to support 70% of the airport’s departure gates.
In addition to the supply, fabrication, and installation of the structural steelwork, we provided offsite intumescent coating up to 60 minutes fire protection, along with 1600 square metres of Comflor 60 metal deck, 1,800 square metres of Roofdek D100 decking, and the full cladding envelope.
The staged install programme required airside deliveries and site installation in two phases, with limited site storage.
